| For our first 2008 project, the Chapter initiated Adopt A Family projects throughout our area this past December. Many of our Officers and AVPs sponsored families/organizations by providing toys, food, clothing and/or monetary donations collected from fellow agents, family and friends. | ||||||||||||||
Our Current 2008 Chapter With A Heart Project Is...

| Foster care children have few personal belongings. These kids usually own a couple of outfits, some precious photographs, and a toy or two. When they move between families, foster care kids are often forced to carry these keepsakes in plastic trash bags or grocery sacks slung awkwardly over their small shoulders. Carrying their effects in a trash bag can be embarrassing and yet another reminder of how little they have in this world. | ||||||||||||||
|
Hauling unsightly bags to a new "home" isn't a one time occurrence. The majority of children in foster care move from family to family, never knowing where they'll end up. Most move between foster care families seven times during their entire stay in the system. However, in California, one in ten foster care children move five or more times every single year.
Foster care children deserve to carry their belongings with dignity and self-confidence. All money collected will be given to county social service agencies for the of purchase gently used suitcases, duffel bags and backpacks for these special children. Checks should be made payable to: Northern California CRS Chapter and mailed to 2942 Liberty Drive, Pleasanton, CA 94566. Better yet...enter your donation below through our secure site. |
